There is no official count on how much would the Punjabi population be in this area by undoubtedly they are the overwhelming majority. Along with them there are people from all across the country who stays in this part of New Delhi. There is a large south Indian population in a locality called Janakpuri. Adjoining localities of Tilak Nagar, Vikas Puri etc has a sizable population of Sikhs. In the 90's this area was mostly populated by people from the lower to middle income bracket. However, these days it is not uncommon to see swanky cars & opulent houses. |
